An examination of the disciplines and resources used to
study the history of music and to study music-as-history;
advanced training in the discursive and analytic tools
appropriate to the gathering of data, the formulating and
testing of theories and the presentation of results
concerning music in an historical perspective.

historical ethnomusicology and/or anthropology; term
research paper

preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
