Music 474 is a two-semester ensemble course in Afro-Cuban music, including performance on bata drums used in sacred contexts and on other percussion instruments, and the study of the social, historical, and cultural context of the music. Associated choral singing will also be taught. Readings, recordings, and video viewing supplement in-class instruction. The ensemble will present public performances.
