Survey course on the contributions of Women to the
discipline of music/music science in the last two thousand
years. This course seeks to examine music evolution from
a world culture perspective that focuses on the unique
reality dynamics of trans European/African restructural
music making (thinking) and the role women have played in
shaping present day music science. The course will also
attempt to intergrate and expose the student to the new
materials on Women Masters--in this time period as well as
from the past.

One midterm paper, one final
paper and a listening examination.

preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
