A survey of varying approaches to the use of computers in music composition and analysis. The course will include 'hands on' work with a digital sound editing workstation and various software packages for synthesis, sequencing, and realtime performance. Class work includes the realization of weekly 'one minute projects' and three major projects which may either be papers or compositions.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

There are two examinations covering the contents of ELECTRONIC MUSIC. Three major projects must also be completed.
