Photo Caption and Credits

A course intended to give a thorough grounding in the writing of harmony and basic counterpoint of the "common practice" period--the 18th century. Exercises will include two-, three- and four part writing, figured bass and simple counterpoint. Ear training and sight skills will also be emphasized.

Periodic tests, numerous exercises and final.

Ability to read music is required. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
