This course is designed to familiarize students with current
research techniques in molecular biology and biochemistry.
For the most part, E.coli, and the budding yeast S.
cerevisiae will serve as model organisms. Topics to be
covered will include the analysis of mutant yeast strains,
cloning by complementation, linkage analysis, protein
purification and recombinant DNA analysis. This course may
be taken concurrently with MB&B208. It provides a broad
knowledge of laboratory techniques valuable for independent
research at the undergraduate level (MB&B401 and 402) and
beyond.
