This seminar will examine the diverse patterns of female
experience that constituted the complex reality of Victorian
womanhood in America. We will explore discrepancies between
the specifics of women's lives and the dominant images and
ideology of womanhood in Victorian art and literature.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
A brief class presentation
and a substantial research paper will be required of each
student.

Preregistered
students must attend the course or otherwise communicate
with the instructor during the Red period of Drop/Add or
be dropped from the course.
