The Politics of International Economic Relations

This is a seminar which covers advanced topics in the
politics of international economic relations. Competing
theories of international political economy will be applied
in analyzing the major issue-areas in modern international
economic relations. The issue-areas include: trade,
monetary relations, debt, foreign direct investment,
North-South relations, OPEC, international economic hegemony
development and global environmental problems.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Weekly papers will be assigned
on topics relating to the readings. There will also be one
major research paper. In addition, there will be oral
presentations and simulation exercises.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Unless
preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
