This course is designed for students who have taken German
in high school or learned some German at home or in a
German-speaking country. It will provide a review and will
continue with the basic language skills: speaking,
listening, reading and writing. By the end of the semester,
students will have: 1) the ability to speak and understand
simple German; 2) an understanding of German grammar; 3) the
capacity to read non-technical texts; and 4) insight into
German culture. Students will work individually and as a
group with multi-media materials. Five class meetings per
week.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Weekly tests, daily
assignments, midterm and final examinations.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Placement in this
course will be determined by the placement test administered
during Orientation, followed by interview with the
instructor. Regular attendance and class participation
required.
