This course is designed to help students master Middle English and understand the discursive affiliations of medieval literature. Additional materials, from liturgical texts to mnemotechnical devices, will be provided to familiarize students with textual modes no longer available to us, as we work toward reading texts of increasing discursive complexity.

SIR ORFEO
SIR GAWAIN AND THE GREEN KNIGHT
Harley Lyrics
PEARL
Julian of Norwich, REVELATION OF DIVINE LOVE

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
