Students will submit a substantial effort in poetry every
week, and class discussion will be based primarily on these
submissions. There is no reading syllabus, but the
instructor will suggest readings, which he considers
appropriate to individual needs, in old and new verse.
MAJOR READINGS
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
There may be some in-class
writing assignments, especially early in the semester.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
By noon of January
14th, students seeking enrollment in Writing Verse should
submit no more than two pages of their poetry to Sheila
Kelleher in the English Department. (Poems need not be
complete.) In addition, each applicant should submit a
brief description of her or his motives for taking the
course. FAXES WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. This is a Drop/Add
course. Class list will be posted by first day of class.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
