The occurrence and origin of volcanic, plutonic and
metamorphic rocks and how to read the record they contain.
Topics will include the classification of igneous and
metamorphic rocks but emphasis will be on the geological,
chemical and physical processes taking place at and beneath
volcanoes, in the earth's mantle and within active orogenic
belts.
