Econometrics is the study of statistical techniques for analyzing economic data. The course reviews regression procedures; it covers simultaneous equation models and problems created by heteroscedasticity, multicollinearity and serial correlation. Students work on individual research projects and learn to use econometric software packages on personal computers.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Problem sets, one empirical project, one mid-term exam, and a final examination scheduled by the Registrar. Major paper applying econometric techniques to an economic problem of interest to the student.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students will use computing programs on the PC's and/or Vax system. Please note that if you do not match one of the prerequisite listings EXACTLY, then you need a prerequisite override. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
