Economics of Israel and the Middle East

An examination of the Israeli economy from the 1970s to the
present. Topics include immigration and demography, defense
economics, inflation and monetary policy, capital markets,
taxation and spending. In addition, we will discuss the
economies of neighboring countries and the effects of the
peace process on development in the region.
MAJOR READINGS

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Term paper, quizzes and final
examination as scheduled by the Registrar. Problem sets;
computer exercises.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Unless
preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
