The economic accomplishments and shortfalls of post-colonial Africa. Such topics as marketing boards and export crops, agricultural production, industrialization strategy, multinational companies vs. native entrepreneurship, and microenterprise will be examined in the context of colonial heritage. The political economy of structural adjustment programs will also be analyzed.
