Bharata Natyam (South Indian Classical Dance)

Bharata Natyam, the classical dance tradition of South
India, combines principles of music and dance into a
theatrical idiom capable of story-telling as well as
abstract beauty. The rudiments of this technique will be
taught through classroom practice in rhythmic and
interpretive exercises.

repeated for credit. Keeping a journal will be an integral
part of the class as will student/teacher conferences and
preparation for the end of semester Intro-to-Dance recital.
