This seminar will examine issues related to the development of the global system since World War II. Possible topics include the emergence and stability of democracy, the future of socialism and social democracy, the globalization of economic relationships, the future of the nation-state, new social movements, international responses to environmental issues, and democracy and international responses to environmental issues, and democracy and international peace. Specific topics will be set during the spring semester in consultation with the present junior class.
