What are the molecular and cellular mechanisms that lead to
the development of cell identity during development? What
ensures that the right cells develop in the right place and
at the right time? This course will focus on the development
of a few cell types, and emphasize current research.
Examples from a variety of organisms will be covered,
including both vertebrate and invertebrate model systems. In
the Spring of '98 this course will focus on the development
of muscle cell identity.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Class participation in
discussions, oral presentation.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Prerequisites OR a
prerequisite override. This class will be taught the first
half of the semester.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
