The elements of good teaching will be discussed and demonstrated through lectures, practice teaching sessions, and discussions of problems encountered in the actual teaching environment. The staff consists of faculty and experienced graduate students. An integral part of the course is a required one-day workshop BEFORE the first day of formal classes.

Evaluation will be based on the level of active contribution to the course.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

All graduate teaching assistants must take this course before or concurrent with their first teaching assignment. Undergraduate students must add this course during Drop/Add. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
