Photo Caption and Credits

This course will examine the origins of archaeology as an interest in ancient material culture, through its establishment as an academic discipline, to its current multidisciplinary sophistication. Archaeologists from Childe to Binford, and periods/regions from Pleistocene Africa to the complex societies of the Mesoamerica and Mediterranean will be discussed. Examples of different methods of analysis will be discussed.
