This course will review, analyze, and critique the major works in Afro-American history with special emphasis on histories by black authors, books published in the past decades, and books in current intellectual debate. A thorough grounding in Afro-American history is required.

Three book reports; 12 page historiographical essay.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

00 pages weekly and class discussion. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office.
