This course will critically examine writings of the classic
sources of contemporary social theory: Simone de Beauvoir,
Martin Luther King, Reinhold Niebuhr, Erving Goffman, C.
Wright Mills, Alvin Gouldner, Claude Levi-Strauss, Talcott
Parsons.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
A major research paper and
several shorter essays. Class attendance and participation
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Unless
preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
