Gender is a fundamental category in psychology and its analysis continues to be an object of substantial research and debate. This seminar examines the methodological, theoretical and epistemological consequences of the question "What is the psychology of gender?" The major theories of gender are reviewed in historical perspective and are analyzed in terms of their implications for psychological research and practice. Also considered are the ways in which psychology is a gender-bound activity.
