Photo Caption and Credits
Next Offered in 9798 SP
This course will provide first-hand experience in the
principles and methods of research in the psychology of
language use. We will focus on selected theoretical
concerns, and the experimental techniques used to address
them. Small projects for the entire class in the first half
of the semester will lay the groundwork for original
research projects, to which the second half of the term is
devoted.
MAJOR READINGS
Selected papers from contemporary
psychological journals. Selected portions of Solso's BASIC
RESEARCH METHODS, and Sternberg's THE PSYCHOLOGIST'S
COMPANION.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Several class projects,
written up as mini-papers. One major individual project,
written in journal style. One take-home examination.
