The second term of the general physics course, following PHYS113 or 115 and using calculus. The topics covered include electricity and magnetism, optics, and quantum physics.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Weekly homework problems, two hour exams and a final exam.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Students taking 116 should enroll in a section of the associated laboratory course PHYS124. Students planning to enter the health professions should be aware that a year of physics WITH LABORATORY is usually required for admission. Consult your major advisor if you are in doubt about similar requirements in your field.
