This course is designed for those who have had no formal instruction in tennis. Basic grips and stroke technique will be taught for the forehand, backhand, serve and volley. Also covered will be equipment selection, court etiquette and proper scoring of games, sets and matches. The introduction of basic doubles formation will also be included.

MAJOR READINGS

While there are no major readings or
examinations, attendance is required in all activity
classes.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

None.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS

Attendance required. First class of each quarter will be in Freeman Athletic Center classroom. Classes will be held indoors in inclement weather. A tennis racquet is required. Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the Registrar's Office. 1st quarter - 2 sections - 101.1 Sept. 5 - October 22 101.2 Sept. 5 - October 22 NOTE: Students must withdraw from this course by October 23.
