Gene Expression: The Translation Step and Its Control

Problems of current research interest in molecular biology with special emphasis on the synthesis, structure, and function of RNA; the synthesis of proteins; the control of genetic activity; and the transfer of genetic information. These topics are discussed as they may relate to the mechanisms underlying hormonal regulation, embryonic development, and cellular differentiation.

MAJOR READINGS

Readings of classic and current journal
papers and review articles.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS

Paper, lecture presentation, final exam.
