The plan is to have the first part of each meeting consist of a lecture of no more than 1 1/2 hours followed by general discussion of the previous week's lecture and any auxiliary readings. This will be followed by a short presentation of a special topic by a student or (preferably) a pair of students who will lead class discussion. Each student will provide a written summary of his/her part of the seminar (200 words or less) and a bibliography (including titles) of papers to be discussed. Each student is required to write a paper, on a topic of his/her choice to be handed in no later than April 1.
