This is a first level general education course in the NSM
area. This course is appropriate
general education course has the objective of developing
the methods of thought and understanding of the
fundamentals, background and principles which are useful in
thinking critically about environmental problems, health,
and nutrition. The course will cover the elementary
concepts of biochemistry from small molecules and hemoglobin
to DNA using a historical perspective and case studies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
This course cannot
be taken for credit in addition to MB&B115 or CHEM115. This
is a first level general education course in the NSM area.
Students must be present at the first lecture in order to
register for the course.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE: Students
must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
COURSE FORMAT: Lecture and one discussion section per week.
