(Students who have successfully completed a high school Calculus course of approximately one year should choose between Math121, Math122, and Math221. An AP score of 3 or better should indicate a preference for Math221.) Math121 is designed for students who have completed a high school calculus course of approximately one year, and who might pursue study in an area for which Calculus is an essential tool. This course is a deeper and broader study of Calculus than the parallel sequences; theoretical aspects are not the main focus, but will not be avoided. The course will, together with Math122, treat: Limits, derivatives, and integrals; the calculus of exponentials and logarithms, trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions; techniques of integration; plane analytic geometry; various applications of Calculus; sequences and series, including power series and intervals of convergence.
