The New Deal represents an important link between
progressive reform politics and the national social welfare
policies of the post-WW II era. This seminar will examine
the creation of the New Deal Democratic coalition; federal
social and economic policies in the 1930's; the effects of
those policies; and resistance to New Deal programs and
political agendas.
