Next Offered in 9798 FA
Europe is undergoing profound changes since the 1970s. In
this course we will analyze the dynamics of global
restructuring and their effect on several European countries
(Sweden, Germany, Great Britain, France, and also Japan
and the U.S.). The purpose of the course is to analyze
the restructuring process by focusing on the relationship
between politics and economics.
The course is divided into four parts: First, we will
discuss the historical development of Europe. Second,
we will look at the emergence of "Modern Capitalism" after
World War II. In the third part, we will examine the
largest industrial countries (Sweden, Japan, France,
Germany, the United States, and the United Kingdom) and
their strategies for dealing with changes in the national
and international markets. Finally, we will discuss
alternative development models by including themes such as
environmentalism and feminism.
