GOVT217
The American Presidency
GOVT217 FA
Next Offered in 9798 FA
No individual and no institution so preoccupy American
thought about politics and policy as the President and the
Presidency. The origins and development of that office have
symbolized the confusion and ambivalence Americans have
about its powers and the power of its occupant vis-a-vis
others in and out of government. Through case studies of
decisions, legislation and implementation, the course
examines the organization and politics of the Executive
Office of the President, its institutionalization and the
personalities of those who work there.
