The first part of a two-semester course designed to develop the basic language skills: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Students may expect to acquire: 1) the ability to speak and understand simple German, 2) an understanding of German grammar; 3) the capacity to read non-technical texts; and 4) insight into German culture. Individual language-laboratory work. Five class meetings per week. Students need not schedule their Tuesday, Thursday sessions for the same time slots as the Monday, Wednesday, Friday sessions.

Weekly tests, daily assignments, midterm and final examinations.

All GERM101 students are required to attend one of the two TT sessions taught by a second instructor that form an integral part of the course. 1. TT 9:00-9:50 2. TT 10:30-11:20 Regular attendance and class participation required.
