Don Juan: The Myth and French Literature

An analysis of the Don Juan myth as a model against which
to read literary structure. Readings of Tirso de Molina,
Moliere, Laclos, E.T.A. Hoffmann, Merimee, Dumas,
Gautier, Flaubert, Barbey d'Aurevilly, Rostand, Montherlant,
and PLAYBOY. Secondary readings by Otto Rank, Oscar Mandel,
Jean Rousset, and David Winter.
