The course will attempt to understand the phenomenon of
modern Latin American literature in the context of
postmodernist preoccupations with language, origins, and
writing. Readings will consist of works (in English
translation) by Borges, Garcia Marquez, Cortazar, Vargas
Llosa, Donoso, and others.
