In this alternative to the traditional fiction workshop,
advanced students will read and discuss exemplary works of
published short fiction in weekly seminars while writing and
revising their own fiction in consultation with the
instructor.
MAJOR READINGS
Readings by: Chekov, Joyce, Barthelme,
Welty, Ondaatje, Mason, Wideman, Eugenides.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Sixty pages of fiction.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Leave a typed and
double-spaced fiction sample with the secretary of the
English Department by 4:00 o'clock on Wednesday, September
3, 1997. Include cover page with name, phone, year, and
probable major, and title of your favorite book written in
the twentieth century.
