Introductory Fiction Workshop

Students will write and discuss short fiction in order to
explore classical story elements and to learn to write
clearly and observe fully.
MAJOR READINGS
Selections from THE STORY AND ITS WRITER,
ed., Ann Charters.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Short stories, writing
exercises, and critical responses to the works of selected
writers.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Leave a typed,
double-spaced writing sample with the secretary of the
English Department by four o'clock on Monday, January 18,
1998. Include cover page with name, phone number, year,
probable major, and title of your favorite book written in
the 20th century.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
