Stratigraphic Analysis

This laboratory course will introduce students enrolled in
E&ES305 to the various modern techniques of analysis of the
stratigraphic record. Topics covered include petrographic
study of sedimentary rocks, methods of field analysis of
stratigraphic successions, graphic techniques of analyzing
field data, and analysis of remotely-sensed subsurface
stratigraphic data.
MAJOR READINGS
Various journal articles from the primary
literature will be assigned.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Ten formal laboratory
exercises will be assigned and graded to sum for the course
grade.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Coregistration in
E&ESf305 is required.
