Democracy and Democratization Since 1945

This course will focus primarily on the development of
democracy in an attempt to answer the question: Can
democratic processes take firm root without freedom,
individualism and liberty as we know them in the West?
Democratic theory will be applied primarily to Japan, Korea,
and China.
