Chemical aspects of the laws of thermodynamics, free energy,
chemical potential and chemical equilibria; thermodynamic
analysis of changes of state in pure systems and mixtures;
phase diagrams; thermodynamics of chemical reactions;
introduction to statistical mechanics. A basic
undergraduate physical chemistry course. Although this
course is usually taken by chemistry majors in the semester
following CHEM337, it may be elected without CHEM337 by MB&B
majors and others.
