The fundamentals of astrophysics developed in ASTR231 are applied to the interstellar medium and the study of the galaxies. Topics include galactic structure, and evolution, the physics of HI and HII regions, stellar populations, star formation, interstellar dust, extragalactic astronomy. and observational cosmology.
