Students are expected to have a familiarity with either Eastern or Western relief printmaking methods. Working closely with the instructor, each student will produce a personal and original series of prints which use the range of relief methods. Extensive use will be made of the Davison Art Center collection with particular focus on Hokusai's Manga, on the period of "Japonisme" when Japanese woodblocks had a strong influence on European painting and design, and on the recent collaborations between Euro/American artists like Chuck Close, Francesco Celmente, et al.
