Advanced Practice - Photography
ARST454 SP

Continued exploration of black and white photography as an
art form. Classes will investigate available and artificial
light. Individual work in the light studio. Supervised
lab sessions and critiques, some conducted by other members
of the Art Department faculty.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Periodic submission on contact
proofs and prints.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Students must
supply their own camera and tripod. Lab fee of $80.00
includes chemicals and studio operation costs. Some
individual work with video still photography tentatively
planned.
SELECTION FOR ADVANCED PRACTICE - Selection will be by
portfolio review, place and location will be announced
outside the photo lab in the basement of Zilkha Gallery.
Students selected by this review process will be expected
to enroll during the first drop/add period.
MAKE-UP PORTFOLIO - Portfolios should include a minimum of
ten exhibition quality prints and twelve rolls of film with
corresponding contact proof sheets. Prints and negatives
must have been processed by you. This is a minimum
requirement, additional materials welcome.
Students selected for this course must attend the first
class meeting or be subject to automatic withdrawal from
the course.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
