This course is a synthesis of fundamentals of design
principles and introduction to design vocabulary, process
methodologies and craft. Using drawing, modelmaking and
building, students will examine the relationship between
production (the process of making things) and expression
(the conveying of ideas and meaning) involved in the making
of architecture.
MAJOR READINGS
Readings relevant to topics explored in each
design project will be assigned regularly.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Four projects (3-4 weeks long
each) with group review at the end of each project. Regular
sketchbook assignments.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Course fee: $65.
Students are expected to attend all class sessions.
Drawing I or similar background in freehand drawing
suggested.
Unless preregistered students attend the first class meeting
or communicate directly with the instructor prior to the
first class, they will be dropped from the class list.
NOTE: Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form
to the Registrar's Office.
