This course will serve as an introduction to the archaeology
of medieval Europe. Emphasis will be on urban archaeology
and on recent trends in the field. Material will be drawn
mainly from North European excavations. The final part of
the course will center on the city of Soissons as an
archaeological site. Students interested in participating
in the Wesleyan summer archaeological program in France are
strongly urged to take this course.
