Buddhist Art from India to Japan ARHA284 SP

A survey of the development of Buddhist sculpture, painting and architecture in India, China and Japan. The course will stress the relationship of changes in the religion and its social setting to formal changes in its art. Readings will be interdisciplinary in nature and class discussion will be encouraged.
