This course will review, analyze, and critique the major
works in African-American history with special emphasis on
books by black authors, books published in the past two
decades, and books on areas of current intellectual debate.
A thorough grounding in African-American history is expected.
Instructor's permission required.

EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Students are required to read
and discuss the CORE readings weekly; orally present, and
subsequently hand-in three book REPORTS; and, complete a
fifteen-page annotated historiographical essay on a subject
of their choice.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Unless
preregistered students attend the first class meeting or
communicate directly with the instructor prior to the first
class, they will be dropped from the class list. NOTE:
Students must still submit a completed Drop/Add form to the
Registrar's Office.
