Performing Shakespeare
THEA 311 FA

This course may be repeated for credit.

This course will be an intensive investigation of Shakespeare's language and characters beginning with monologues and scene studies, and culminating in the group performance of one or more acts of a Shakespearean play. Students will conduct research into Shakespeare's sources and the context in which his plays have been performed. They will then have the opportunity to embody that research in the performance of a Shakespearean text using heightened physical and vocal techniques that match the heightened use of language in the plays.
