Acting II
THEA 285 FA
This course may be repeated for credit.
The incorporation of the basic principles of acting practiced and learned in Acting I (physical actions, sensory awareness, scenic analysis, economic use of voice and body) and expand on them. In Acting II, students
will
now additionally consider the externals of character -- physical centers, voice and body transformations, and environmental influences (class, culture, etc.) when creating a role.
MAJOR READINGS
Stanislavski, "Creating A Character"; The plays under study and related research material.
EXAMINATIONS AND ASSIGNMENTS
Scenes and exercises will be presented in class. Written assignments. Final project. Admission by audition.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS and/or COMMENTS
Admission to studio, performance, project and tutorial courses in theater is at the discretion of individual instructors, who take into account estimated talent, experience and the need to form balanced and effective
working ensembles. Projects must be
approved by the department. See theater bulletin board for details.
Prerequisites: THEA245 OR equivalent.
Please be aware that you will be required to attend an additional lab class on Thursday evenings
from 7-9 p.m.
